Thomas Tenkate is an associate professor and director of the School of Occupational and Public Health at Ryerson University. He has worked in Australia, the United States and now in Canada in the fields of environmental health, public health and occupational health and safety. He has been in academia for over 10 years, and prior to this he worked in a variety of government roles for 10 years. Originally qualified as an environmental health officer, he has also gained qualifications in occupational health and safety, management, and education, including a doctor of public health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has a particular interest is in risk assessment and risk management, with ongoing research in sun safety for outdoor workers.
